SCO’s annual favourite “Rhapsodies of Spring 2024”, concert to air on MediaCorp Channel 8 during first day of Lunar New Year 10 February 2024, 12.30pm

Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) welcomes in the Year of dragon in January 2024 with our annual flagship Chinese New Year concert – “Rhapsodies of Spring 2024”. Conducted by SCO Principal Conductor Quek Ling Kiong and a wonderful collaboration with Mediacorp Radio CAPITAL 958 DJs yet again, the Rhapsodies of Spring 2024 concert will be broadcasted on various platforms, to bring festive cheers to all – beyond geographical boundaries. All will be in for a treat!

Soar into the year of Dragon with SCO’s annual favourite “Rhapsodies of Spring 2024” & “Enchanting Sceneries: Xu Zhijun and SCO” concerts

Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) welcomes in the Year of dragon in January 2024 with two concerts, namely the “Enchanting Sceneries: Xu Zhijun and SCO” and our annual flagship Chinese New Year concert – “Rhapsodies of Spring 2024”. The “Enchanting Sceneries: Xu Zhijun and SCO” concert marks SCO’s first collaboration with the Xinjiang traditional folk instrument Tanbur. It will also be the first time for Professor Xu Zhijun to perform on the same stage with SCO after more than ten years.

Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra (SNYCO) celebrates the 20th Anniversary with a line-up of concerts, programmes that culminates into a concert tour to East Malaysia from 6th to 14th December 2023! The new orchestra 23/24 season is also unveiled during the same time, sharing what SNYCO has to offer in the new season!

Singapore Chinese Orchestra raised $1,112,000 at the Fundraising Gala Dinner and Concert 2023 Strings Serenade

SCO’s Patron Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour, with the company of Mrs Lee. Through this event, SCO raised a total of $1,112,000 . All proceeds will go into the development and operating cost of SCO, of which, $1,112,000 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Cultural Matching Fund (CMF) from the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY). We have received donations from a total of 75 donors for this fundraising event, amongst whom 18 of them are new donors.

Under the baton of Conductor Emeritus Tsung Yeh, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra will mesmerise all with completely new orchestra works composed by Composer-in-Residence Wang Chenwei. All four works performed will be premiered locally in this concert. Among the four works performed is the world’s first ever virtuosic concerto specially written for the diyin sheng. Not to be missed by diyin sheng and sheng students, or instrument enthusiasts!
